RIS: Mark, first off were stoked you’re snowboarding for team REVOLT at Ultimate Boarder. We’re also lucky enough to have Dean Randazzo surfing with us, as well as skateboard legend Steve Caballero. Any thoughts on being the young gun snowboarder teamed up with the skating and surfing legends?
MR: Couldn’t be more stoked! Growing up I would always watch Steve skate and he definitely had a big influence on me and my snowboarding!
RIS: You ride Mammoth often, the site for Ultimate Boarder snow event; do you see any advantages or disadvantages to to this in the competition?
MR: Probably an advantage, I’d say ‘cause I get to ride the park a bunch. But to be honest? I have no idea! I’m just planning on having fun with the crew! It’s going to be epic!
RIS: If you were to have your pick, would you take a sweet powder day or a bluebird day in the park?
MR: Powder day for sure! There’s nothing better than dropping a cliff or getting a face shot in the POW with your friends.
RIS: Can you tell us a little about your Snowboarding history? When did it start and where did it go down?
MR: Yeah! I started snowboarding when I was 8 at a resort called Cocaine in New York. It only had 4 chair lifts and an elevation of 700 feet. It was a pretty funny resort; everyone had a nickname for it, that I’m sure you can figure out. When I turned 16 I was so over it, (plus I got kicked out for doing a back flip, apparently you’re not allowed to go upside down on your snowboard on the East Coast) So being that I could drive now, I decided to go to a bigger resort called Holiday Valley. That’s where I discovered park riding, I fell in love! When I turned 18, with some help from my family and friends, I moved to mammoth. Now it’s two years later & my dreams are becoming a reality!
RIS: You’re competing with us in Ultimate Boarder very soon, what’s going down next for Mark Reininga?
MR: After Ultimate Boarder I have a couple more contests then I’m planning on taking a break from the contest scene for a month or so. I just want to work on some tricks for next year!
RIS: Any last words, thoughts or shout outs to the world?
MR: GKC4LIFE.COM check it out and like us on facebook! Got to thank the man upstairs for letting us shred everyday!
