Now that the snow has vanished & the winter gear has been stowed… it’s time to break out the Mountain Bike gear & prep for an epic season of riding. Best place to ride? Snow Summit Mountain Bike Park at Bear Mountain.
Less than two hours from San Diego (or on the way home from Las Vegas trip) Extreme banking turns, jumps and wooden bridges for all skill levels have been constructed on three separate trails for the modest to extreme riders. All accessible by lifts. No gear of your own? No worries, they also offer rental equipment. FYI – It’s some of the best equipment you can get your hands on. Just sayin’.
Snow Summit only Mountain Bike Passes are just $299 and you can start using them on opening day, which is May 8th, 2015.
Opening weekend festivities including much more than just the first chance to ride through the Bike Park this summer, they also have contests, giveaways, industry vendors and DJ Slipmatt. As always there will be hiking, biking and the Scenic Sky Chair, that will take you up to the most scenic BBQ in Big Bear: the View Haus.
Fri-Sun only until June 19th when they start daily operations for the summer season. For the first time this year you can get a joint bike park pass giving you access to both Mammoth & Snow Summit for just $399.”
At Bear Creek Resort you are quite literally minutes away from world class mountain biking, zip line tours, fine dining, entertainment in the village & walking distance from world famous Big Bear Lake for fishing, paddling, etc… A truly spectacular way to stay and play in Big Bear. The cabins are decked with flat screen televisions, large bathrooms, private porches, deck and even private spas.
If you are looking for great entertainment, look no further than The Cave in The Village. They spared no expense when turning the old movie theater into a live show venue. The Cave is a rare treat, especially for a community the size of Big Bear Lake. It still has that local, small venue feel but with big city sound with some name music acts. Crazy Town, Berlin and The Tubes are just some of the upcoming shows.
After a full day of Big Bear, no matter what your sport, the fuel tank needs to be re-filled. No better way in than Cowboy Express. The largest piece of meat with a ginormous baked potato – too many sides to describe plus a solid list of beers on tap to choose from. Get there early or expect to wait for a while – the lines prove that even the local carnivores call this their ‘go-to’ spot.
